EcoBay Alliance Participates in "Mainland & Hong Kong Agricultural Technology Exchange Conference 2026": Advancing Green Agriculture and Expanding into Global Markets

On July 10, 2026, EcoBay Alliance, acting as a crucial collaborative link within the Greater Bay Area, actively participated in the "Mainland & Hong Kong Agricultural Technology Exchange Conference 2026." Hosted by the Institute of Environment, Energy and Sustainability (IEES) at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), and co-organized by the Endeavour Environmental Education Foundation (ENEEF) and the Yunnan Mengding Town Vegetable Industry Association, the event welcomed a delegation of farmers from Yunnan. The conference aimed to build a practical dialogue platform for agricultural technology and industry cooperation between Hong Kong and the Mainland, driving the implementation and internationalization of advanced green agricultural technologies.

Synergizing Efforts to Connect Technology with the Market


This exchange conference successfully brought together the strengths of academia, industry, and non-profit organizations. Ms. Yan Cheung, General Manager of EcoBay Alliance, served as the Master of Ceremonies, kicking off this profoundly meaningful event. Professor Hon-Ming Lam, Director of IEES at CUHK, delivered a warm welcome address, highlighting the immense potential for cooperation in sustainable agriculture between Hong Kong and the Mainland.

Focusing on Core Green and Advanced Agricultural Technologies


The conference highlighted two agricultural technology projects with high development potential, designed to address current environmental challenges in agriculture while boosting economic efficiency:


Green Agriculture — Soil Carbon Sequestration and Circular Material Application: The session explored the "Good Soil Urban Composting Project" and the application of biochar. By converting urban organic waste into valuable resources and utilizing biochar to enhance soil organic matter and water retention, this approach not only improves agricultural soil but also achieves significant carbon sequestration, supporting national carbon neutrality goals.

Advanced Agriculture — Aquaponics Systems for Chinese Herbal Medicine Cultivation: With deep technical support from the Institute of Chinese Medicine at CUHK, this project explores the cultivation of high-economic-value Chinese herbal medicines in controlled ecological environments using modern aquaponics technology, establishing an efficient, closed-loop production model.

Looking Ahead: Joint Expansion of Agricultural Technology into Global Markets


Beyond technical exchange and project implementation, another core objective of this conference was to propel the joint expansion of Hong Kong and Mainland agricultural technologies into overseas markets. Mr. Neon Ma, Market Development Consultant for the Endeavour Environmental Education Foundation (ENEEF), shared strategic plans for this global outreach.

EcoBay Alliance will fully leverage its role as a collaborative link in the Greater Bay Area to connect outstanding environmental and agricultural technology enterprises within the region. Targeting Malaysia as the first overseas pilot market, we plan to organize a joint delegation of agricultural experts and enterprise representatives from Hong Kong and the Mainland to participate in Agri Malaysia 2026 this September. By exploring the feasibility of technology implementation with local institutions, we aim to introduce green agricultural solutions—crystallizing the wisdom of both Hong Kong and the Mainland—to the global stage.

Post-Conference Field Visit: Exploring the Chinese Herbal Medicine Garden and Aquaponics Base


Following the conference, the organizers arranged a special field visit exclusively for distinguished guests to the CUHK Chinese Herbal Medicine Garden and Aquaponics Cultivation Base. This hands-on experience allowed guests to witness first-hand the innovative growing system that seamlessly integrates the wisdom of traditional Chinese herbal medicine with cutting-edge ecological farming technology.

Guests first gathered for a group photo at the entrance of the herbal garden before venturing into the greenhouse to observe a variety of precious Chinese medicinal herbs thriving under controlled conditions. At the aquaponics base, guests examined the planting troughs housing various herbal species and took a close look at the fish tanks, gaining a vivid understanding of the closed-loop ecological cycle where fish nourish the plants and the plants purify the water. This immersive site visit further deepened the guests' appreciation of modern agricultural technology and laid a solid foundation for future technical collaboration and knowledge transfer.
