17th Sep 2026, Mr. Lawrence Cheung, Chief Operating Officer of EcoBay Alliance, represented the Alliance at the "SJM Green MICE Forum & Zero-Carbon MICE Product Launch" held at Grand Lisboa Palace Resort Macau, exploring practical pathways for the decarbonization of the MICE industry alongside regional green pioneers and global carbon market experts.

We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to Ms. June Lei, Marketing Director of the Macao International Carbon Emission Exchange (MEX), for the kind invitation. The forum was held at "The Garden House," an elegant venue characterized by natural daylight and classic conservatory garden architecture that harmoniously embodies sustainability. Most notably, The Garden House was officially certified as the first continuously carbon-neutral integrated MICE venue in Greater China, alongside the rollout of SJM Resorts' standardized "Zero-Carbon MICE Services."

To achieve this milestone, Grand Lisboa Palace fully offset 11,653 $tCO_2e$ of operational emissions across all its MICE venues for 2025–2026 through high-quality carbon credits. Their Zero-Carbon MICE solution establishes a comprehensive, closed-loop operational model:

  • Authoritative Frameworks: Supported by Macau’s first ISO 20121:2024 sustainable event management certification, Macau’s first GSTC membership, and a LEED Silver certified property, with all carbon accounting and credit retirement verified by MEX.

  • Full Lifecycle Decarbonization: Encompassing end-to-end sustainable event planning, green decor with circular recycling for preserved flowers, and the pioneering introduction of ecoSPIRITS low-carbon beverage distribution and MSC/ASC certified sustainable catering.

  • Impact Verification & Social Responsibility: Delivering verifiable post-event impact reports and carbon-neutral certifications, complemented by curated green property tours and charitable partnerships.

During the event, Mr. Cheung also had an insightful exchange with Mr. Alvin Lee, Head of Supply at Puro.earth—a world-leading carbon crediting platform and standard-setting body—discussing international carbon removal (CDR) standards and liquidity in voluntary carbon markets. These practical global insights will serve as vital benchmarks for EcoBay Alliance as we advance regional carbon asset development and foster a resilient carbon economy.

EcoBay Alliance remains committed to bridging high-caliber resources across the Greater Bay Area and globally, collaborating with partners to turn low-carbon visions into actionable industry momentum.
