EcoBay Alliance Invited to Present Awards at the Fourth “I Am a Reading Ambassador” Competition Final
Reading Connects Technology, Nature, Daily Life and the Future
The final of the Fourth “I Am a Reading Ambassador” Competition was successfully held at the Macao Science Center on 14 August 2026. Centred on the theme “Technology and Life: Reading Opens Up the Future,” the event was organised by the China Macao Federation of Youth Culture with the strong support of a number of institutions. Mr. Lawrence Cheung, Chief Operating Officer of EcoBay Alliance, was invited to present the awards.
The competition was marked by an enthusiastic atmosphere. Student contestants recommended outstanding books through speeches and shared their reflections on reading. Their chosen topics spanned a broad range of fields, including technological development, environmental protection, history and culture, and mental well-being. Many contestants took a bold and creative approach, using role-play to bring the content of their selected books to life. Their original ideas and engaging performances vividly demonstrated the imagination and expressive talent of young people, earning warm applause from the audience.
At the event, Mr. Samuel Tang, President of the China Macao Federation of Youth Culture, said that the competition has, over the years, encouraged young people to immerse themselves in books and take pleasure in sharing their reading experiences. Looking ahead, the team plans to extend the competition across the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area, creating a cross-city platform for reading exchanges, strengthening regional cultural interaction, and continuing to promote a culture of reading throughout society.
Mr. Luo Nuoheng, President of the Association for Mutual Progress, attended the final and shared his views. He noted that reading is an essential foundation for inspiring creative thinking and nurturing empathy. In an era of rapid advances in artificial intelligence, the humanistic qualities and cultural depth developed through deep reading hold a distinctive value that technology cannot replace. He encouraged young people to develop and maintain a regular reading habit, and to contribute in practical ways to Macao’s vision of becoming a “City of Reading.”
The event concluded in a lively and harmonious atmosphere. In addition to providing young people with a platform to showcase their talents, the competition continues to spread a culture of reading. It encourages young people to discover the world through books, integrate technological thinking, and look ahead to future opportunities.
