Hong Kong and Macau Organizations Launch Campus Initiative to Boost Environmental Awareness

The launch ceremony for the "Future Leaders Business Academy—Future Entrepreneurs: ESG and Sustainable Business Practices" and the "Chief Circular Officer Development Program" took place today at the Centro de Juventude Do Bairro Do Hipódromo. The event, centered on organic circular economy and climate resilience, drew over 40 local young people, including young entrepreneurs, university students, and organizational staff members. Through keynote presentations and hands-on workshops, participants explored innovative pathways toward a green economy.

The event was organized by the China Macao Federation of Youth Culture, funded by the Education and Youth Development Bureau, and supported by the EcoBay Alliance. Keynote speakers and guests of honor included Samuel Tang, founding president of the China Macao Federation of Youth Culture; Ms. Yan Cheung, secretary general; Eddie Chan and Shawn Cheng, directors of The Endeavour Environmental Education Foundation (ENEEF); Dr. Lee Man Tat , program director of the Bachelor of Environmental Science at Saint Joseph University; Dr. Hou Muk Tin, president of the Macau Furniture, Building Materials and Decoration Association; Yan Yin ying, president of the Macao New Era Economy Wa Ha Chun Sek Joint Chamber of Commerce; and Leung Ming Kwong from International Professional Safety & Environment Co., Ltd. Students from Macau Pui Ching Middle School, Liceu de Camões, and Macau City University also participated in interactive discussions.

The event featured two keynote sessions: one on building eco-friendly communities through organic circular economy, and another on co-creating climate-resilient Greater Bay Area under dual carbon goals. Both sessions emphasized that circular economy is not merely a technical challenge, but rather a process of social collaboration and value transformation.

Additionally, the event included hands-on environmental workshops that translated ideas into action. One workshop, titled "Urban Regeneration Planting Workshop," guided participants in growing small potted plants using high-quality compost made from kitchen waste recycling. The organizers hope that young participants will bring this "micro-circulation" approach into their homes and workplaces, fostering daily environmental habits.
